This policy describes how Tire Scan DOT/TIN (“the App”) handles information when you use the iOS application. The App’s purpose is to read a tyre/tire sidewall DOT/TIN code, estimate manufacture week/year and age band, look up plant information from an offline database, and save your readings on your device.

1. No account

The App does not require registration or login. We do not ask for your name, email, or password inside the App for an account system.

2. Information the App uses on your device

Camera and photos

• Camera — optional, to capture sidewall images for on-device OCR of DOT/TIN codes.
• Photo library — optional, if you choose an existing sidewall image for OCR.
• Images used for a successful scan may be stored locally on your device with the history record. We do not operate a user account cloud to sync these photos.

DOT/TIN codes and history you create

• Codes you scan or type, decode results (week/year/age/status), plant lookup results, and related metadata are stored locally on your device (for example in app storage / local files).
• History stays on your device unless you delete it or remove the App. Share actions you start may send a summary image to apps you choose (Messages, etc.) under those apps’ terms.

Plant database

Plant / manufacturer reference data ships with the App (derived from public NHTSA-related plant information) and is used offline on your device for lookup. That reference data is not your personal data.

3. Advertising (AdMob)

The App shows a bottom banner advertisement using Google AdMob.

• Google may collect device and advertising identifiers and usage-related data to serve and measure ads, subject to Google’s policies.
• Depending on your iOS version and settings, you may see an App Tracking Transparency prompt. You can limit ad tracking in iOS Settings.

Ad unit configuration is controlled by the developer; test builds may show Google test ads.

4. Data we do not collect as a product feature

The App is not designed to collect: precise location for mapping, contacts, health data, payment card data, or social graph data. It does not provide tyre size, PSI, tread depth measurement, shop listings, or vehicle diagnostics as core features.

5. Processing and AI / OCR

Sidewall text recognition runs to extract DOT/TIN-related characters so the App can decode week/year and related fields. Results are informational estimates for awareness only and are not a certified inspection or legal determination.

6. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13. Do not use the App if you are under the age where consent is required in your region without a parent/guardian as applicable.

7. Data retention and deletion

• Local history and photos remain until you delete entries or uninstall the App.
• Advertising partners may retain data under their own policies.

8. Your choices

• Deny camera or photos — you can still use manual code entry.
• iOS Settings → Tire Scan DOT/TIN — revoke permissions.
• iOS tracking / ad settings as provided by Apple.
• Delete history rows in-app or uninstall to remove local App data.

9. International users

The App may be used in Hong Kong and other regions. Offline plant data and language options (English and Chinese scripts) may be available. Advertising partners may process data in other countries.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised policy where permitted by law.
